about
I wrote this song about falling in love with someone 9500 miles away, on the other side of the globe. The idea of using technology to communicate in a way that couldn't have happened 25 years ago inspired me to create a song with the dreamy quality of 90s alternative and britrock, juxtaposing the sound to the themes to drive home just how fortunate we are to have an unprecedented connectivity to others we otherwise would never have met.
lyrics
Nine thousand miles across the sea
Vacant hands upon me
Aching tears are pouring
Awaiting moonlight to see you
Follow me into the groove
Where the notes begin to blossom
Catching sunlight in the prism
In my mind but out of reach
Feel me, I’m calling
Come to me, come to me
Run to me, run to me
Hear me, I’m falling for you
Nothing can hurt me
Nothing can hurt me here
In the dark you’re the light
Far apart but nearing
Meet me in the clearing
Where the ruins grow like roots
Spanning far beyond their time
The grains of sand are never-ending
Minutes blurring, ever-blending
I touch glass but I can't breach
Feel me, I’m calling
Come to me, come to me
Run to me, run to me
Hear me, I’m falling for you
Nothing can hurt me
But this aching void between
(The stars and moon and sun and earth)
Those precious moments of harmonious silence
(The wind and rain, the sky and dirt)
The kaleidoscope of neon lights in early evening
(They mean nothing without you)
The warmth within when I awake from dreaming
(Nothing without you)
They are nothing without you
Feel me, I’m calling
Come to me, come to me
Run to me, run to me
Hear me, I’m falling for you
Nothing can hurt me
Nothing can hurt me here
