about
I actually started to write this song about a character I was playing in a Dungeons & Dragons game, but as I immersed myself further into the music, I found myself relating to the lyrics in a completely different way.
I am certain that we all experience, at some point in our lives, someone who comes into our life and changes us beyond recognition. We withdraw and find ourselves at the mercy of our parasite, but still we are the ones who must bear the grief.
Sometimes, I feel like I am both the host and the parasite, and that ridding myself of the parasite would be an act of self-destruction. I know many if not most of us have that voice in our heads constantly fighting us about everything; preying on our insecurities and slowly degrading our self-esteem. Wild Hunt is a song about recognising the cycle and vowing to fight that voice every day, never giving up and never giving in.
This song is for you if you need it.
lyrics
I’m not who I once was
I’m not who I would be
If I could choose, then I would lose
The memories that burden
Would it make a difference?
So much harder than it should be
If you were me, wonder if you’d see
Wonder if you long to surrender
I grow small
Beneath the weight of it all
Break my teeth on an iron will
We’ve tasted steel, but you steal my kill
My body is yours, my body is mine
My body belongs to the echoes beyond me
I won’t kneel, but I’m present still
My wounds won’t heal, but I feel the thrill
My body is yours, my body is mine
There’s no way to hold all the anger within me
I feel it all at once
I feel the fire consume
All that’s left is a soul bereft
Bare and naked, left to the elements
Lost in the wild hunt
Who ran away from who?
I won’t stay in your brittle cage
To suffer the fate of a revenant
I grow small
Beneath the weight of the world
Break my teeth on an iron will
We’ve tasted steel, but you steal my kill
My body is yours, my body is mine
My body belongs to the echoes beyond me
I won’t kneel, but I’m present still
My wounds won’t heal, but I feel the thrill
My body is yours, my body is mine
There’s no way to hold all the anger within me
The weight of the world I would give
Still I’m alone forever here
Forever yours
Forever mine
Forever broken
I'm so small
Beneath the weight of your sword
Break my teeth on an iron will
We’ve tasted steel, but you steal my kill
My body is yours, my body is mine
My body belongs to the echoes beyond me
I won’t kneel, but I’m present still
My wounds won’t heal, but I feel the thrill
My body is yours, my body is mine
There’s no way to hold all the anger within me
